There are loads of tips for adding extra walking into the day, getting off the bus early for one. I’ve been quite impressed that this seems to work, on the downside it’s very easy to assume walking takes the same time as getting the bus. I’ve had to break into a run a few times to get the train after ambling from the earlier bus stop.
Something else that works really well for me is parking on the street further down from work instead of in the car park. I have a lot to carry in so normally need a couple of trips to empty the car. Walking back and forth at lunchtime to switch over also adds up. My new parking regime has added an extra thousand steps. What’s really good though is that when I’m just a little bit more active I find other ways to be more active and get back into good habits.
